I was planning on having a surf myself this morning. That was until I realised I left my wetsuit hanging in the garage. Instead I got to watch everyone else riding what looked like some fun waves. There is a really shallow bank behind the rocks at Watonga, and the bodyboarders were enjoying some very round barrels.
There will be some more shots on our Facebook page shortly.
There should still be some fun waves out there if you've got time to surf. Don't forget your wettie.
It was such a nice morning today, you could be forgiven for thinking it was Summer. Winter is definitely on the way out.
The water was pleasant, and there were some fun looking waves coming through down the beach at Lighthouse. There was quite a sweep and it was hard for an old guy to stay in the right spot for photos, but I managed to get a couple.
There wasn't a lot happening surf wise around town over the weekend. And today's no better. I did hear about some fun waves to the North and South. If you have time it might be worth a little drive.
Here's a few from the slim pickings at Lighthouse Saturday Morning.
Two of our area's beat surfers also happen to be two of the nicest people you'll ever meet, so I was stoked to be able to shoot photos of Darren O'Rafferty and Mitchy V in the Semi-Finals of the Australian Surf Masters this morning. Both guys progressed through to the final. Unfortunately, time wouldn't allow me to stay for the final, but I was glad to hear O'Raff is our new Aussie Title Champ.
Town Beach looked like a lake this morning. I heard that the south facing beaches had a bit more swell, but nothing worth getting excited about. It was a good chance to go get a tidy up from our buddy Jimbo The Barber
Since there wasn't anything to take photos of this morning, here's a few pics from the Australian Surf Festival on Saturday.
