Let Down

The waves today aren't bad. In fact there there are a few good fun ones rolling through.
The trouble is, the forecast was looking epic and it's only pretty good.
Most of the swell is missing Town and the high tide is preventing any sort of real barrels.
That combined with a grey sky and cold wind has put a bit of a dampener on the great morning of surf I was expecting.
There are definitely signs of potential, and it could turn on as the tide runs out.
Fingers crossed.

South

Both the wind and the swell are coming from the South this morning.
Fortunately, just enough of the swell is swinging into Town Beach to deliver some quality waves.
The tide was quite high and a lot of waves were closing out, but the ones that didn't looked like fun.
If the wind doesn't swing there should be some great waves as the tide runs out.

Glen seems to be doing everybody's board sprays lately. This morning he was working on a different type of spray.

Traffic

The waves looked fun again and a little more consistent this morning at Breakwall.
There was however, a lot more traffic in the water.

The wind is forecast to go East this afternoon and North for tomorrow and the weekend, so get out there now if you have the chance.

Two Surfers and Some Wildlife.

There were only two surfers out when I arrived at breakwall at 8.30.
The waves were small and clean, and the surfers were one of Ports best shortboarders and one of Ports best longboarders.
Cath and Cainy took turns riding fun waves for about half an hour, with only a bit of wildlife to share the lineup with.
Just after 9 the wind picked up and so did the crowd.

Demo

Yesterday afternoon the guys from Gato Heroi/Wild Things Gallery were good enough to drop by with a couple of vans of fresh boards for us to try.
The waves were less than epic, but still good enough to get a feel for these great boards.
Without a legrope in sight, there were quite a few nervous faces, but most guys decided to man up and I saw a few guys who hadn't ridden this type of board before leave the water with big smiles.

If near Byron Bay this weekend be sure to check out the Byron Bay Surf Festival. The guys will have their big pile of boards to try at Wategos most of the weekend.

You can check out a heap more photos from yesterdays demo on our facebook page.

Andy knows his way around a Gato.
There were plenty to choose from.
It took Ken a couple of waves to get a feel for the Gato, but he nailed this one.

Keen

You'd have to be pretty keen to bother surfing this morning.
The wind was blowing from the Nor-East pretty early leaving Lighthouse the only option.
As usual, there were a few enthusiastic surfers who went to the trouble of paddling out and a couple even got some decent waves.

Hopefully the waves will be a bit better on Thursday afternoon. The guys from Gato Heroi are stopping by with a bunch of Demo boards for you to try out. Give me a call if you want any more info.
