The swell has dropped overnight, but there were still a few little waves in town and only a few guys sharing them. The wind has swung to the North now so I expect that Lighthouse will be the best option for the rest of the day, though it didn't look to flash when I drove past this morning.
Being so close to town and easily viewed from your car, it is no secret when Town Beach is working. There were plenty of takers this morning. It seems like no one goes to school or work any more. The tide seems pretty fickle at the moment. By the time I had washed off my camera and waxed up my board the wave quality had definitely dropped.
I managed to jag a fair few decent shots this morning, so the extras will be on our facebook page shortly.

You probably noticed the strong Southerly wind this morning. I did, and so I arrived at the beach not expecting very much. I was pleasantly surprised to see some fun little waves breaking through Chickens.
There was only a few guys out there when I arrived, but word spread quick and she was a tad busy by the time I got out.
It was a bit busy and very windy, but there were rewards for those who were prepared to wait..
It's nice to surf different waves, whether it's across town or across the world. But there's is something special about surfing your local. Town Beach has been pretty sad for a fair while and it's been nice to see her breaking again this week. This morning the sun was shining, the water was warm enough to ditch the steamer, and there were some fun waves rolling through. I managed to sneak a few shots in before I swapped the camera for my board.
After a drive around the beaches there didn't seem to be much on offer this morning. I sat and watched breakwall for a little while and the clean little close outs looked like fun with only one grom out. After a few slides on the trusty hand plane, a few more surfers started arriving and the waves seemed to pick up a little so I went in and grabbed the camera. I was pleasantly surprised to see some decent little waves roll through. It's great to see Town Beach starting to regain some form just in time for daylight savings.
This morning, for the first time in a long time I left my water housing at home. I cleaned my bus out last night getting ready for the Old Bar Beach Festival this weekend and wasn't expecting there to be any waves today. There was a crisp little South wind blowing and some fun looking little barrels running through breakwall. I shot from the beach for about 10 minutes, but it looked too inviting so I raced home. I'm glad I did, it was very pleasant in the water.
There will be some more shots on our Facebook Page later today.
