There weren't many waves, but there was plenty of wildlife in the ocean this morning. While I looked at the place the waves were supposed to be I noticed some whales passing by. I drove up to the lighthouse to see if any were coming in close. The whales stayed a fair way from shore and weren't doing much but coming up for air. But while I was there I saw massive flocks of birds and the biggest pod of Dolphins I have ever seen.
The waves have been flat the last few days. If I waited for waves it could have been a long break between photos. It's such a nice day, so I went for a swim at Flynns. The clubhouse and trees there make for a nice view while floating around.
The swell has dropped over night and the waves at Watonga are a lot more challenging for the Juniors this morning. There are still some decent waves, but they are a lot less consistent than yesterday.
Today they have moved the Junior contest to Watonga Rocks at Lighthouse Beach. It's a bit overcast, but there are some great waves on offer. Not all the action is is coloured rashies though. There is all sorts of moves going on down the beach.
Firstly, my apologies for the lack of photos lately. Between sick kids and a wrecked back, I've barely seen the beach in the last couple of weeks. The Junior titles are in town and there are kids ripping everywhere. They were dominating the line up's at Flaggies and Breakwall this morning. I believe they've been getting great waves for the comp at Bonny Hills. If you have a chance it should be worth the drive for a look.
Saturday Morning, High Tide. There was some fun waves, but it seemed that a paddle was needed to catch them. The regular surfers were struggling and the SUP boys seemed to be running the show. It seemed pretty similar out there this morning. There was only one surfer out scoring a very occasional decent wave.
